Golden
Galore
Milk
Unique food trends have been on the rise but the one that excited me the most was seeing “Golden Milk” on the menus of several trendy western cafes and restaurants in these recent years. I came across interesting fusions with the key golden ingredient, turmeric such as ginger, peppercorns, and even matcha to name a few.
Haldi ka dood which translates to turmeric milk in Urdu and Hindi, has been a staple in my household similar to many other South Asian families. Passed down through generations in my family, this drink has been used for all kinds of situations which is why I named it the Golden Galore milk. My mother has always recommended this to me for stress relief, joint pain, during the flu season, or just as a cozy bedtime drink. This nutritious drink will give you a heaping dose of anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits of turmeric, honey, and cinnamon. I always make sure to add some black pepper when I use turmeric since it enhances the absorption of the phenolic compound, curcumin found in turmeric. Try out my favorite and easy version of the popular golden drink!
